Travel journal

A travel journal that stays on your phone.

Most travel journal apps start with a sign-up screen. Stadu starts with your first stop. Notes, photos and the route stay on your phone.

Write the trip, stop by stop

A trip in Stadu is a sequence of stops. Search for a place or type one in, then add the date, a few lines about what happened and as many photos as you like, from the camera or your gallery. Drag the stops into order and choose how you got from one to the next.

That is the whole journal: short enough to fill in on the train home, detailed enough to read again in ten years.

The route, drawn for you

Between the stops, Stadu draws the way you travelled: real roads for drives, walks and bike rides, an arc for flights, and a line you can shape yourself for ferry crossings. Each mode has its own colour, so one look at the map tells the story of the trip.

Press play and the whole journey replays on a 3D map, with your photos appearing as you arrive at each stop.

Part of your life, not a separate app

A trip does not end up in a travel-only silo. It sits on your Lifeline in the year it happened, next to the films, books and life events from the same months, and every stop shades its country on your travel map.

No sign-up, no tracking

There is no account to create, so there is no email, no password and no profile for anyone to find. Stadu does not ask for location permission either: you write the trip, the app does not follow you.

That also means nothing syncs between devices. Your journal lives on one phone, and you move it with a backup file.

One honest limitation: photos and backups

The backup file holds your trips, stops, notes and dates, but not the photo files themselves. Your pictures stay in the app and in your own gallery. If you switch phones, keep your original photos, because the backup will not carry them over.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a travel journal app without an account?
Yes. Stadu has no sign-up at all. You open the app and start a trip, and everything is stored on your phone.
Is Stadu free?
Yes. Stadu is free on Google Play, with no advertising. Trips, the travel map and the 3D replay are all included.
Does it record my route by GPS?
No. Stadu does not track your location. You add the stops, and Stadu draws the route between them.
Can I add photos to each stop?
Yes, several per stop, taken with the camera or picked from your gallery.
Can friends follow my trip?
No. There is no public profile and no follower feature. You can share a screen recording of the trip replay, or your year in review as an image.
Are photos included in the backup?
No. The backup file contains your trips, stops, notes and dates, but not the photo files.
Does it work offline?
Everything you have written can be read offline. Searching for places and loading maps need a connection.
