The Lifeline
A timeline that starts the day you were born.
Life-in-weeks grids are beautiful and empty. The Lifeline is the same idea with your actual life in it — every film, book, gig, place and milestone, anchored to your birthdate.
The problem with a blank grid
“Life in weeks” is a genuinely good idea: four thousand-odd squares, one per week, and the ones behind you filled in. It makes time feel finite in a way a calendar never does.
Then you look at it a second time and there is nothing there. The grid knows how old you are. It does not know anything about you.
Stadu takes the same premise and feeds it real entries. Because you are already logging the film you watched and the trip you took, the timeline is populated as a side effect — you never sit down to “fill in your life”.
Scroll from today back to Born
The Lifeline runs in one continuous scroll, newest first, with giant year headers and month dividers. Beside each year is the age you were — which is what turns a list of dates into a life story. The last thing at the bottom is the day you were born.
Memories, trips and life events sit side by side in the same column. The concert, the move to a new city and the week in Kyoto are not in three different tabs, because they were not three different lives.
The Decade Map
Zoom out and every year becomes a cell, shaded by how much of it you logged. Your birth year is marked with a dot. One glance shows the shape of your life — the dense years, the thin ones, and the stretches you have never written down.
Stadu nudges you gently about those gaps: “Nothing from 2015–2018 — what were you up to?” Filling one in takes a title and a year.
The World view
The same entries drive a 3D globe. Every country you have set foot in glows, and every place, concert and trip stop is pinned where it happened. Zoom in and the clusters resolve into individual nights out and individual towns.
It answers geographically what the Lifeline answers chronologically: where has this life actually been?
