Travel wrapped

Your travel wrapped, without the template.

Most travel wrapped posts are built by hand: a template, a list of countries typed in, a few photos. In Stadu the numbers already exist, because the trips are already logged.

What goes into a travel wrapped

The format that spreads every December is simple: how many trips, how many countries, how far, and the best moments. The hard part is collecting it. Hardly anyone remembers every stop of the year by late November.

Stadu keeps that list for you. Every trip is a set of stops with dates and the way you travelled between them, so the travel side of each year is counted as you go:

  • Trips and countries for the year, and the share of the world you have seen.
  • Kilometres (or miles) between your stops, also as “times around the Earth” and “of the way to the Moon”.
  • Distance per year as a small chart, so you can see this year next to the last ones.
  • Your longest trip of the year.

A card to post, a globe to filter

From the Stats tab, pick a year and tap share. You get a travel card with those numbers, a Highlights card with the rest of your year, and a 9:16 story image that combines both.

The travel map has the same year chips: filter the globe to one year and only the countries you visited that year light up. You can share that globe as an image too, and it leaves the pins out on purpose: it shows which countries, not exact places.

The Year Reel: one year, flown in date order

Tap “Play 2026” and the camera flies across a 3D globe from one moment of your year to the next: the trip stops, the concerts, the places you logged. At each stop your own trip photos land as big polaroids, one after another, before the flight moves on, and a card says what it was, where and when. The reel ends on your totals for the year.

It plays inside the app and does not export a video file. Every control fades during playback, so if you want a clip for your story, screen-record it. For single trips there is also the animated trip replay, stop by stop with the right vehicle for each leg.

Not only this year

A travel wrapped is usually a one-off for the current year. In Stadu every year you have logged trips for has the same numbers and its own reel. Backfill the big trips of 2023 in a few minutes and 2023 has a travel wrapped as well.

What Stadu does not do

Stadu does not track your location. It does not ask for location permission; you add the stops yourself. That keeps your movements off any server, but it means nothing is recorded automatically while you travel.

If you want a GPS-tracked route recorded for you and exported as a video, Polarsteps does that and Stadu does not. Here is the honest comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free travel wrapped app?
Yes. Stadu is free on Android and builds a travel recap for each year from the trips you log: trips, countries, kilometres and your longest trip, as a share card, plus a Year Reel that flies across a 3D globe through the year.
Can I make a travel wrapped with my own photos?
Yes. Add photos to your trips and the Year Reel shows them: at each stop your photos land as big polaroids, one after another, before the camera flies on. The photos stay on your phone.
How do I make a travel wrapped?
Log your trips with their stops (backfilling is quick), then open Stats, choose the year and tap share. The travel card and the 9:16 story card are ready to post. For something moving, play the Year Reel and screen-record it.
Does Stadu make a travel wrapped video?
Not as a file. The Year Reel is an animation that plays in the app, with the controls hidden during playback so a screen recording comes out clean. Stadu does not render or export video.
Can I make a travel wrapped for last year?
Yes. Every year with logged trips has its own numbers and its own reel, including years you add afterwards.
Does the app track where I go?
No. Stadu does not request location permission and never records where your phone is. Every stop is one you entered.
Does the shared globe show where I was exactly?
No. The shared globe image shows only which countries you visited, without pins for exact places.
